Why Fungicide?
Applying fungicide to corn crops can be a strategic decision to manage disease, improve plant health, and potentially increase yields under certain conditions. The timing of fungicide application is crucial, with evidence suggesting that applications during the VT-R1 growth stages—corresponding to tasseling to silking—can be particularly beneficial. This period is often marked by high disease pressure, and the protection of the plant’s foliage during this time can be critical for ensuring the photosynthetic efficiency necessary for grain filling. Studies indicate that properly timed fungicide applications can help manage diseases such as gray leaf spot and northern corn leaf blight, which, if left uncontrolled, can significantly impact crop yield and quality
